Annual General Meetings for the Branch and Club are held usually in March of each year. Committee meetings are usually held on the first Thursday of each month. Branch members are welcome to attend Committee meetings.
Provision of advice
An important part of the Branch’s work is the provision of advice on welfare, compensation and awards. This is provided by a fully-trained specialist and is conducted in a friendly, informal, sympathetic and confidential way.
Although fundraising for the Association goes on throughout the year, a great deal of activity is still centred on ‘Wings Week’, which coincides with Battle of Britain Week. Wings Appeal fundraising can be recognised by the wing emblem used on all its material. Wherever the wing is seen, it means that the funds raised go towards helping members ofthe RAF Family in need in the Cheltenham area.
Links with local organisations
The Branch has informal links with local Air Training Corps units who typically help in the running of the Wings Appeal.
Links to Armed Forces
The Branch has a RAFA Liaison Officer (RAFALO) to develop and maintain links with local RAF units such as Brize Norton and the Joint Services Signals Unit Cheltenham (JSSU Cheltenham).
Situated centrally in the Regency town of Cheltenham, the Club is an ideal place to have a drink, meet friends, socialise or enjoy the Saturday evening entertainment.
The Club is comfortable, has a well-stocked bar with drinks at very affordable prices, and has ample room for entertainments. See the additional information in the link “Who We Are”.
Live entertainment (typically 50s and 60s music) is provided every Saturday evening, and Bingo sessions are usually included. See the entertainments programme here.
The Derry Suite
The Derry Suite seats up to about 40 people and is available for meetings and talks. It is currently used on a regular basis by the Aviation History Group and the Cheltenham Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes (RAOB).
